Welcome to the ongoing Department of Computer Science Open House, held in room 301 of the H.R. Bright Building (HRBB) at Texas A&M. The department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Faculty, staff and students look forward to meeting you for the first time or renewing an old friendship. Please stop by and say howdy!

CALENDAR YEAR 2008

Recipients of the Department of Computer Science Distinguished Former Student Award for 2008 will be Dr. James H. Cross II, PhD 1986, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Auburn University; La Tasha Gary, BS 1985, Senior Director of Global Channel Partner Information Technology at HP; and Robert E. Jordan, BS CPSC 1985 and MBA 1986, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Procurement, and Technology of Southwest Airlines Co. Dr. Cross, Ms. Gary, and Mr. Jordan will be presented with commemorative plaques and $1000 scholarships in their honor at the Tenth Annual Computer Science Awards Banquet to be held mid-spring, 2008.

Hite, MS '94, and Colonel Daniel J. Ragsdale, PhD '01, received the Department of Computer Science Distinguished Former Student Award. Student and faculty awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research and service.

CS Former Student Picnic

Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its fifth annual CS Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours on Friday, October 5, 2007. The picnic had a fiesta theme with fajitas, rice and beans served from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building — across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building on the Texas A&M University, College Station campus. Tours of department labs were held until 4:00 p.m. If you didn't have an opportunity to attend this year, mark your calendars for the next one!

Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its fourth annual CS Former Student Picnic on Friday, October 13, 2006. C&J's Barbeque was on hand for the picnic part and tours of the department were given in the afternoon. Hope to see you at the next one!

CS Former Student Picnic
The Department of Computer Science in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University held its first CS Former Student Picnic. A picnic lunch was served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building--across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building. Tours of the computer science department were available from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The department invited all its former students to come by and enjoy a memorable day on campus.
