SILVER TAPS
Since 1898, our student body has kept Silver Taps as one of the finest traditions of Texas A&M University. Silver Taps is a tribute paid to An Aggie who, at the time of his or her death was enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or professional courses at Texas A&M University. Silver Taps will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 10:30 p.m. in the Academic Plaza in honor of Alex James Kirk and Christian Michael Scrogum. In preparation for the ceremony, all residence halls, buildings and streetlights surrounding the Silver Taps ceremony site (Academic Plaza area) will be darkened from 10:15 p.m. 11:00 p.m. The darkness and quiet, which cover the campus, emphasize the solemn mood for Silver Taps. This time honored tradition merits participation by every student, faculty, staff and visitor. All are highly encouraged to attend this ceremony. Transportation Services provides free parking in the University Center Garage between 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. for Silver Taps attendees. In the case of severe weather, Silver Taps will be held in G. CS GRAPHICS 2008
The purpose of this contest is to encourage high school students to consider pursuing further computer-science related studies, e.g., as computer science or computer engineering majors in college. We want to hold a contest that will be fun, while exposing students to aspects of computing that they might not have previously considered. We also hope students will consider Texas A&M when choosing where to come to college!
The focus of this year's contest will be on graphics. Graphics refers to the process of taking a virtual model and generating an image from it. There are many diverse aspects to graphics, ranging from ways of describing 3D objects, to ways of modeling light and its interaction with objects, to ways of describing the behavior of objects in the world. In this contest, teams will be given a problem that will allow them to apply some of the principles and ideas of graphics to a more general problem.

AGGIE NIGHTS
Green River Ordinance Concert & Forsyth Fridays:
Brothers Geoff and Jamey Ice, Josh Jenkins, Joshua Wilkerson and Denton Hunker joined their lives together into one singular dream. The dream of creating music. While most kids their age were worrying about entering high school, they were writing and performing their own music. They recorded their first EP in the basement of their church, a CD that sold out its first pressing in just a few months. They've packed houses across the Country, were the direct support for BON JOVI in 2006 at the sold out American Airlines Center in front of 20,000 people, have toured with the likes of Collective Soul, The Click 5, Blue October, Bowling for Soup, Flickerstick, Eisley, Simple Plan, Mutemath, Matt Wertz, Lovedrug and many other bands already established in the music world. Green River Ordinance will take the stage on Rudder Fountain Plaza at 10:00pm. Before the concert, join us in Forsyth Center Galleries for paint-your-own-vase art project from 8 - 10pm.

His leadership has been one of successfully managing a campus of 43 member institutions that includes nine university or college systems by encouraging them to work together while at the same time helping to create an environment where they actively compete. For more information about this week's commencement ceremonies, please visit the Texas A&M graduation website.
