The are many fellowship and scholarship opportunities available to
undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in computer science
and computer engineering in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas
A&M University.
There are national programs and awards that are administered by
the department or the university.
These awards provide various levels of support, ranging from a few hundred
dollars to significant stipends (e.g., $30,000/year), full tuition and
fees, and other expenses.

How to apply for departmental graduate and undergraduate scholarships and assistantships
Review the Computer Science and Engineering Process and Policy
before submitting your application. Apply online at http://osis.cse.tamu.edu. After logging in to the One-Stop Information Source (OSIS) at CSE@TAMU, the welcome screen will appear. On that screen, follow the directions for Applications, Requests, and Document Submission. Remember to upload your résumé with completed application. In order to receive full consideration for scholarships and assistantships, all applications with résumés must be received by June 15. Recipients will be notified at the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester.

Industrial Affiliates Program Scholarships
A number of scholarships are available through our
Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP). These scholarships range
from $1,000$1,500 and are available to undergraduate and graduate students, based on need and merit.
The number and amount of these scholarships are based upon contributions from
corporate sponsors and may vary from year to year.
Endowment Scholarships
- ACCENTURE SCHOLARSHIPS
Two Scholarships: $1,500.00* each
Offered to juniors pursuing a degree in computer science with a
GPA of 3.0; recipients must be involved in extracurricular
activities and demonstrate leadership capabilities; recipients required to be U.S.A. residents.
- SUSAN M. ARSEVEN '75 SCHOLARSHIPS
Four Scholarships: $1,500.00* each
Offered to undergraduates majoring in computer science; preference is given
to female students. Recipients are required to be U.S.A. residents.
- JEFFREY JOHN BECKER '82 SCHOLARSHIPS
Three Scholarships: $1,000.00* each
Preference given to sophomore co-op students. Scholarship may be repeated once or twice relative to performance. GPA requirement of 3.0.
- MARIE & JIM GALLOWAY '29 SCHOLARSHIPS
Two Scholarships: $1,000.00* each
Offered to students pursuing a degree in
computer science with a GPA of 3.0; recipients required to be U.S.A. residents;
preference to recipients with financial need.
- Udo & Marie FELLOWSHIP for Computer Science
One Scholarship: $1,000.00*
Offered to students pursuing a degree in
computer science with a GPA of 3.0; recipients required to be U.S.A. residents;
preference to recipients with financial need.

- W. Homer Carlisle Endowed Scholarship
One Scholarship: $1,000.00 Awarded to freshman computer science and computer engineering students with a GPA above 3.0. Students with enthusiasm for computers and programming are given preference.
- Stephen O. Pace '91 Endowed Scholarship
One Scholarship: $1,000.00
Awarded to computer science and computer engineering students with a GPA above 3.0. Students with enthusiasm for computers and programming are given preference.
The scholarships listed in
this section are offered by institutions outside the Department of Computer
Science and Engineering. Please do not contact the department about details regarding
these scholarships. Where available contact information has been provided
for your convenience.
- Scholarships Administered by Engineering Student Services and Academic Programs (ESSAP)
Multiple scholarships from several donors.
Offered to engineering students with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Students must be currently enrolled in a major in the
Dwight Look College of Engineering and be working on their first baccalaureate
degree. Applications will be evaluated on scholastic achievement, leadership,
financial need, special circumstances, number of family in college
currently and first generation in college.

- National Excellence Fellowship
Some of the opportunities in this section are for undergraduate students
and some are for graduate students. In many cases, undergraduates can apply
for graduate fellowships while undergrads.
The scholarships listed below have different deadlines and eligibility
requirements, and they also vary from year to year for the same program.
So be sure to check the details before and applying and don't wait too long
before starting an application - most of the applications require letters of
recommendation or official transcripts that will take some time to collect.

Eligibility: Undergraduate, graduate students.
- AT&T Labs Fellowship Program
Eligibility: Minority and women students who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents and who are pursuing Ph.D. studies in computer and communications-related fields.
- DOE Computer Science Graduate Fellowships
Eligibility: U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.
- DOE High Performance Computer Science Fellowship Program
Eligibility: Graduate students.
- DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship Program
Eligibility: Undergraduate senior students or first-year or second-year graduate students.
- Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Fellowship
Eligibility: PhD students (can apply as seniors), US citizens or permanent residents.
- Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships
Eligibility: Predoctoral level, dissertation level, postdoctoral level.
- Gates Millennium Scholars
Eligibility:
Undergraduates (apply as high school seniors);
US citizens or permanent residents;
underrepresented minority;
GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale;
demonstrated financial need.
- Gilman International Scholarship
Eligibility: undergraduate student applicant provides proof that he/she will be receiving a Federal Pell Grant and is applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by his/her accredited institution.
- Google Anita Borg Scholarships
Eligibility: Undergraduate, graduate students.
- Hertz Foundation
Eligibility: Graduate students.
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: Undergraduates (high school seniors can apply), graduate students.
- IBM PhD Fellowship Program
Eligibility: PhD students; must be nominated by faculty member.
- Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility: Undergraduates, graduate students.
- Microsoft Scholarships

- NAE Fellowships
Eligibility: Graduate students.
- NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute for Engineering Graduate Students
Eligibility: U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)
Eligibility: Undergraduates, graduate students.
- National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship
Eligibility: Fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree.
- National Gem Consortium Fellowship
Eligibility: Under-represented graduate students.
- National Physical Science Consortium
Eligibility: Graduate students.
- National Science and Defense Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG)
Eligibility: Graduate students (can apply as seniors).
US citizenship required.
- National Society of Professional Engineers

The SME Foundation awards scholarships and fellowships pursuing degrees
